On the California costal highway

After a tasty dinner with Kit and Murray Boss last night, we left Santa Monica and headed north. We traveled through Oxnard, Ventura, Santa Barbara and into the Santa Inez Mountains. They were covered with yellow flowers and were beautiful. We stopped in Lombac, the largest flower seed producer, for lunch and saw Vanden Berg Air Force Base.
We stopped in San Luis Obispo to see the San Luis Obispo Mission founded in 1772 by Father Sierra. In 1894, the Southern Pacific Railroad laid tracks through the town greatly increasing the size of the town.
We drove up to San Simeon where we are staying tonight. We found a place where the elephant seals congregate. They swim where kelp grows for their food and have a sandy beach to lie on. The male Elephant seal is considerably larger than the female.
